Tiffany Cherry

Passing the GED exam was a milestone for Tiffany, and the beginning of more great success. She’s working on general education requirements at Mesa and City Colleges, with the long-term goal of becoming a teacher. She works as a classroom aide/tutor at Continuing Education where she shares her Continuing Education Advantage every day with the students she helps.

When Javier came to the US he only knew his numbers and colors in English. After taking English as a Second Language classes at Continuing Education, he transferred to City College where he completed an Associate degree in Chicano Studies."I had an advantage,” he said. "My instructors really focused on writing and study skills.” From City College, Javier transferred to SDSU, where he graduated with a Bachelor degree, and the designation of Summa Cum Laude. "Continuing Education introduced me to the school system and prepared me for the higher education I received.”

Maria Elena Hernandez

Maria is using her Continuing Education Advantage to enroll in college. She earned a job training certificate from Continuing Education, and passed the state exam to become a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant. Now Maria is completing her GED and transitioning to City College — the next steps toward her long-term goal to become a Registered Nurse.

Ernest Bolden

Ernest is a student in the Auto Technician Job Training/Certificate Program. He’s preparing to enter the Automotive Technology program at Miramar College, but first he’s getting a background education through Continuing Education. "I‘ll have an advantage when I go to Miramar,” he says. "Using this background knowledge will give me an advantage over other students who don’t have the same education that I’ve received at Continuing Education.”

Jill Hollingsworth

Jill Hollingsworth received a Masters in Fine Arts from SDSU. She also completed the Interactive Media and Certificate Program at Continuing Education. “I found the instructors at Continuing Education to be current and friendly,” she said. Jill has currently partnered with the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research on a grad project—an interactive e-textbook that portrays the species that live in Southern California’s coastal sage shrub habitat. “Had I not developed my computer skills at Continuing Education, I probably would not have been able to get into grad school. It has been a journey and it started at Continuing Education.”
